Biography

Reed E. Harvey has been practicing law for twenty years, representing numerous Fortune 500 corporations, as well as individuals. Reed's experience includes five years with the litigation group at the San Francisco law firm, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. His work there included numerous complex matters such as antitrust defense (Pacific Bell, BASF Corporation), libel defense (National Enquirer), trademark protection (SF Examiner) and defense of Department of Justice and state Attorneys General investigations.

Additional experience includes representing clients in the areas of contract and real estate disputes, the latter including matters involving construction defects, landslides, disclosures, boundaries, leases, loans and easements. In addition, Reed has prepared and negotiated many different types of agreements, including stock purchase agreements, corporate transactional agreements, commercial leases, license agreements, employment agreements and film option/story right agreements.

Before law school, Mr. Harvey was a paralegal in New York City at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom working on some of the largest corporate transactions of the late 1980s.

Kraus v. Trinity Management Services, Inc., 23 Cal.4th 116 (2000). Reed co-authored winning briefs in this landmark California Supreme Court decision concerning California's Unfair Competition Law.

Broden v. Marin Humane Society, 70 Cal.App.4th 1212 (1999). Represented the Marin Humane Society. Reed authored winning briefs in a matter of first impression regarding animal cruelty laws and the application of the "exigent circumstances" exception to the search warrant requirement with respect to the Humane Society's rescue of animals.
